Shot this video in San Francisco for New Zealand singer / songwriter Mel Parsons. We drove our old beat up Cadillac (that I bought for the trip) around the city to find cool places to shoot. Not all the locations worked out well. But we struck the Santa Cruz boardwalk on a beautiful afternoon and that formed the backbone of the video…

Saw these guys play in San Diego – and was so impressed with their live performance that I offered to shoot them a free video. We had 3 hours to shoot the video at Hemmingways in Los Angeles.

This is when I saw them playing in San Diego. I operated one of the cameras for this gig and contacted their management straight after the show. These guys are AMAZING live.

I was lucky enough to get the lovely Anna Coddington and her band to fly down to Christchurch to shoot her latest music video for the very catchy song ‘Little Islands’. We only had a short timeframe to shoot and she wanted something simple for the video. Thought it would be a great time of year to get out and shoot amongst the leaves in Hagley park.

Was lucky enough to get to shoot a music video for the amazing Julia Deans! She had a quick visit to CHCH coming up so we had to turn around the video fast for her. Ended up going back to the Lightworkx studio (which is an amazing space) and using their coloured backdrops. All shot on the Canon EOS 550D.

Got a last minute call from Cairo Knife Fight to shoot a video for their new single ‘This Is Love’ and get it out asap!

It ended up being a 2 day shoot – one of the days went well into the rainy night so thanks to the effort from all the crew!

Well here it is – my first music video with vampires!

“Broken” is the outstanding debut single for Dave Wallace.  This video was shot in an abandoned building in downtown CHCH on the Canon 7D.

Vampire LUNA RIOUMINA

Got a chance to direct this video for Rare Shot Blue – a brilliant musical duo based in CHCH. Was a whole bunch of fun to make – got my brother John to cut the top off an old Ford mk3 Cortina, turning it into a convertible.  It is the most intensive edit I have done for a music video – taking inspiration from Eminems 3AM – which I think is a pretty cool look and suits the music.

The whole video was captured using the Canon 5D mk2 DSLR (@ 30fps) and then some of the performance was sped up to 200%.

In the bath.  Not sure where we got the hot water from but Ben & Nan (our PA’s) arrived on set with a chilli bin filled with boiling water.

This is a video that has been sitting on the shelf for a couple of months now.  Shot back in December 2009 “On A High” is the debut single for Auckland’s Gemma Russell.
