I first got into filmmaking when I was 21. I found a Mac at uni that had iMovie on it. I remember how on the ads Jeff Goldblum edited video with iMovie and made footage go into slow motion. That was the greatest trick ever to me.
So I borrowed a friends dads camera and went about shooting a short film. The result was a totally shit film called “Dirty Justice”. It won best editing at the 2001 Ed Wood video awards – they give out awards to pretty much everyone who enters.
But that was enough to get me hooked.
Since then I have directed over 50 music videos, a bunch of short filmy things, an hour and a half feature and lots of soul destroying corporate videos.
I still really like making footage into slow motion.
I’m currently in the middle of a 365 day photo challenge – which you can view here.
Here’s an article from Crews.tv on my earthquake experience.
New Zealand TV3 News ran a piece on the Deliver Me To Hell Youtube adventure I wrote and directed for Hell Pizza.
